Terms of service

These Terms of Service are a contract between you and the provider of Velrim ("we", "us"), identified in section 13. By creating an account or using the API you agree to them. Contact for everything in this document: hello@velrim.com.

1. What Velrim is

Velrim is a document-extraction API: you send a document and a schema, and you get back typed data with a per-field confidence score and a grounding anchor (the location in the document each value came from). We also publish reliability data measured on named public corpora and ship an open-source eval CLI so you can measure the service yourself.

Velrim is built for business and developer use. You must be able to form a binding contract to use it.

2. Accounts and API keys

• You need an account to get API keys. Keep your credentials and keys secret; anything done with your key is attributed to your account.
• API keys are shown once at creation. We store only a hash of the key and cannot recover it. If a key is lost or leaked, revoke it and create a new one.
• You are responsible for the documents you submit and for having the right to submit them (see section 4).
• We may require bot verification (Cloudflare Turnstile) at signup and for the free grant.

3. Acceptable use

You must not:

• submit content that is unlawful for you to process or for us to process on your behalf;
• upload documents you do not have the rights or a lawful basis to process, including other people's personal data you are not entitled to handle;
• attempt to access, probe, or extract data belonging to other customers, or to bypass authentication, tenant isolation, or usage metering;
• resell raw model access: Velrim is an extraction service, not a proxy to the underlying model providers;
• disrupt the service, evade rate limits, or automate abuse of the free grant (for example by farming accounts).

We may enforce rate limits and per-account caps, and may adjust them, to keep the service stable and to limit abuse. Serious or repeated violation of this section is grounds for suspension or termination (section 8).

4. Your documents

For the content of the documents you submit, you are the data controller and we act as your processor. Document bytes are processed transiently: they are deleted at the end of each job (success or failure), with a 24-hour storage backstop, and asynchronous job results are retained for at most 24 hours so you can fetch them. Our database stores job records by reference only (identifiers, status, page counts), never document content. We do not use your documents to train models. 5. Prepaid wallet and billing

• Velrim is prepaid. You top up a dollar balance (minimum $5 per top-up) and every successfully extracted page draws $0.02 from it. Failed jobs are not billed.
• Card transactions are processed by Dodo Payments, our Merchant of Record. Dodo is the seller of record for your purchase: it charges your card, collects and remits any applicable tax, and executes refunds and disputes. We never see your full card details.
• What gets credited: your wallet is credited with the pre-tax net amount reported by the Merchant of Record. Where prices are displayed tax-inclusive (for example EU VAT), the tax portion is collected by the payment provider and is not added to your balance. Your receipt and wallet show both figures: what you paid (including tax) and what was credited, with the page count it equals.
• Paid balance does not expire.
• The free signup grant (currently about 500 pages, disclosed at signup) is promotional: non-refundable, non-withdrawable, one per verified account, and it expires 90 days after it is granted. The grant's size and availability may change; the terms shown at signup apply to your grant.
• Auto-recharge is opt-in and off by default. If you enable it, we charge your saved payment method through the Merchant of Record when your balance crosses the threshold you set.
• Your balance can never go negative; a job that would cross zero is rejected before it runs.
• The per-page price is published in the dashboard and API responses. If we ever change it, we will tell you by email in advance; balance already purchased keeps drawing pages at the rate in effect when each job runs.

6. Refunds

This section is the complete refund policy, together with section 5 (what gets credited) and section 8 (refunds if we discontinue the service or terminate without cause).

• Unused paid balance is refundable within 30 days of the top-up, prorated to what you have not spent. Ask at hello@velrim.com from your account address; the refund is executed by the Merchant of Record back to your payment method, with any tax adjustment handled by the Merchant of Record.
• A fully consumed top-up is not refundable: you received the pages.
• The free grant is never refundable or withdrawable.
• Failed jobs are never charged in the first place, so there is nothing to refund for them.
• The 30-day window limits refunds, not usage: paid balance itself never expires (section 5).

If a charge looks wrong, write to us before disputing with your card issuer; that usually resolves it faster.

7. Confidence scores: no reliance

Per-field confidence scores are probability estimates, not warranties of correctness. A confidence score does not guarantee that any individual extracted value is right, and no output of the service is a substitute for your own review where a wrong value would cause harm.

Our published reliability data describes measured behavior on named public corpora and transfers to other documents at your own judgment. Any threshold or error-rate statement produced by our published data or by our eval tooling is a marginal statement: averaged over the document distribution it was measured on, finite-sample, and never per-field-conditional. It is not a promise about any specific field, document, or future request.

You are responsible for deciding how to act on extracted values and confidence scores in your own systems, including any thresholds you set.

8. Service changes, suspension, termination

• We may change or improve the service. If a change removes something material, we will give notice by email where practical.
• We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these terms, for legal reasons, or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue the service or terminate without cause, we will give reasonable advance notice and your unused paid balance will be refunded; in that case the 30-day window in section 6 does not limit you.
• You can stop using the service and close your account at any time by writing to hello@velrim.com. Closing your account does not by itself refund balance; section 6 governs refunds.

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise uninterrupted availability, and we do not warrant that extraction output will be accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose. We hold no certifications (for example, we are not SOC 2 audited) and we do not claim any. Our commitments are limited to what is stated in these terms and on the security page.

10. Liability cap

To the extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or related to the service is limited to the total fees you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data, even if advised of the possibility. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law (for example liability for intent or gross negligence where the applicable law does not allow its exclusion).

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Spain, and the Spanish courts have jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer or data-protection rights you hold under the law of your residence.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes we will notify you by email before they take effect; continued use after the effective date is acceptance. The current version always lives at this page.

13. Legal notice

Velrim is provided by Maksym Bogachov, sole proprietor, established in Spain, who is the contracting party for these terms ("we", "us" throughout). Contact: hello@velrim.com. Card payments are processed by Dodo Payments as Merchant of Record (section 5).
